Medical Benefits of Singing Karaoke

Endorphins

Medically speaking there are several benefits of singing karaoke. It has been documented in many articles that the effects of singing are not only good for us but may also give special help for those suffering from various illnesses and conditions.
Without getting too technical, when we sing endorphins are released.  Endorphins are a type of hormone that is released into the blood.  It is responsible for reducing pain and creating a sense of tranquility and 'well being'.  This in turn has been documented to often reduce stress levels and also reduce blood pressure.  People suffering from high blood pressure or increased stress levels may see improved conditions as one of the benefits of singing karaoke if done on a regular basis.

Pain, Anxiety and 'Feeling Down'

Being a great stress release, people with anxiety or depression type ailments may also find some benefits of singing karaoke to alleviate their conditions.
The endorphins create a natural happy feeling within us therefore benefiting those that may feel 'down'.  Many times we feel down because of a tendency to hold our problems and emotions inside us.  Singing allows for every possible emotion known to mankind.  Songs and their lyrics talk of every situation and every human condition.  Have you ever tried to sing a happy song and not want to smile? It is near impossible.  Endorphins have been documented to having effects for up to 16 hours after their release.  Whether singing a sad song, a happy one or a rip snorting rock and roll tune that gets those endorphins and smiles working, you can be assured of feeling the benefits of singing karaoke for at least a short time afterwards.

Asthma

It has also been documented that another benefit of singing karaoke through regular singing may be that it helps increase lung capacity and proper breathing patterns.  Children that are asthmatics have been documented as having shown improvements after participating in regular singing activities.  Perhaps a new karaoke machine for your asthmatic child will have the same benefits.

Other Medical Benefits

Other medical benefits of singing karaoke would include such things as documented cases where it has been used with those that have challenges in the areas of mental or vocal use.  For example there have been documented cases in which people have been known to stutter very badly but can sing without missing or repeating a syllable.
Ever wonder why singalongs are so popular in senior's homes?  It is not just because they are fun.  They also make the brain work to remember or read the words .  The old 'use it or lose it' theory applies here to help prevent mental degeneration.
Some doctors also claim that snoring can be reduced by toning the muscles of the soft palette (found at the back of the throat between the nasal cavity and the throat) and that this can be achieved by regular singing of 20 minutes a day.  I can see the wives...practically
pushing their husbands (and vice versa of course) out the door to reap some of those benefits of singing karaoke.
Regular singing also keeps the small muscles in your face and throat toned.  Keeping muscles toned helps one resist certain aging effects and help us look younger. These benefits of singing karaoke are a lot more fun and a lot cheaper than having a face lift.  (Now, now husbands...no pushing ...please)

Finally...Medically speaking

Most people do not participate in karaoke thinking of these benefits of singing and if they do it is with the intent to lessen the effects of their conditions.
I am sure there are many other benefits of singing karaoke that have been documented from a medical standpoint. These seem to be the main ones and ones that are most commonly thought of.  If you can in any way or degree lessen the effects of a medical condition so easily, simply by taking advantage of what is naturally ours...the gift of sound...why not see if one of these benefits of singing karaoke could help you?  After all you have nothing to lose and every 'benefit of singing karaoke' to gain.
