The Big Night - Before Your Song

The following scenerio describes what your big night might look like and the karaoke tips that you might find helpful.

You are nervous but as you have chosen the karaoke venue for the evening, you walk through the door and scout out your friends.  They are sitting in a great spot. (karaoke tip #1)... They can easily see the  screens, they are close to the stage and it is easy to get to.  They must have read the same karaoke tips page that you did.  From here you have a great view of the screens and the singers.  As you listen and watch during the evening you will probably be able to pick up more valuable karaoke tips from the veteran singers now that you know what to actually look for.

As you are seated, you notice that the karaoke host already has the books on the tables and that there are two different kinds of books.  One book  has the karaoke songs listed by the song artist and the other has them listed by the song titles.  (karaoke tip #2)...You are sure glad that you wrote down the songs that you wanted to try and the ones you have been practicing.  Now you not only have the correct title but also the artist.  If there are songs with the same titles you will know which song artist you are more familiar with.

Picking up a couple song request slips you begin looking through the book for your songs and the corresponding disk numbers that you have to write down.  (karaoke tip #3) You write out a couple slips to start with because you know that the host calls the singers in their song submission order and you always want to keep a request slip in place so you do not lose your order in the singing line. (karaoke tip #4)...You remember to place the song that you are most comfortable and familiar with on the top of the stack as you hand them in, just like the karaoke tips told you to do.  You know you will likely be at least a little nervous and you want to give yourself the best opportunity possible, to do well.  This will allow you to warm up your voice and relax a bit with a comfortable, familiar song. (Once you get really comfortable with performing, this is a chance to warm up your voice and have a bit of fun with the audience...make your mark, so to speak)

As you sit and chat with your friends you listen to the singers and have a couple drinks.  Even though you are in a bar, remember that alcohol will have its effects on everyone eventually and a smart karaoke tip is to pace yourself.

Sometimes you hear a song or two that you would like to try yourself at some point. (karaoke tip #5)... You make a note of these possibilities on your 'to try' list so you won't forget them when you get home. You look them up in the book and also make note of the song artist.

You are sure glad you read the karaoke tips before coming out tonight. The karaoke tips you have remembered so far tonight have come in very helpful.
